Dear Diary,

How do I get my self into these messes.  I’m supposed to be solving the mystery of the haunted carousel, and yet I find my self helping Joy find her long lost childhood.  To do this so far, I’ve had to  east ice cream (ok I’m not complaining about that), play this game called Barnacle Blast, the first twenty times it was fun, but it’s starting to get annoying.

I did finally manage to call Tink.  He’s the guy that operates the carousel.  Unfortunately he’s off fishing and isn’t going be that much help.   Oh well back to Barnacle Blast.

So what is up with the RA in the Val Can Dorm at Waverly Academy? You never see her and if you knock on her door she yells at you and threatens to give you demerits.  Also is she a candidate too or what?. Plus if she never leaves her room how does she know what goes on.  If I didn’t already know who the culprit was I would think it was her.

If you’re like me, there are some Nancy Drew games that you simply get in the mood to play from time to time.  White of Icicle Creek is my cold weather winter game.  My plan last winter was to not to play it until one of those  days when everyone was snowed in.  Yeah right,  it seems that everyone else in this country (baring Southern California, Miami, and Hawaii,)  spent most of last winter snowed in, or  in blizzard like weather.  Unfortunately (or fortunately if you will)  I seemed to live in the one area of the country that got very little snow.  Yeah it snowed 1 ONE Day, wow!

So now here I am, it’s August and it’s 100 heat index hot, and what do I want to play… you guest it “White Wolf of Icicle Creek”.  This isn’t my favorite over all game, just my favorite winter game.  I was watching an Arglefrumph Youtube

video,  Here’s the link :   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIOQKk9JgrA

fox foxgeese

where he said that (in his opinion) the fox and geese game in White Wolf, was the worst puzzle.  I have to agree with him.  Unlike the Sudoku, nonograms, etc,  in Shadow at the Water’s Edge you can’t look up the answer/shortcut in UHS hints or any other walkthrough.  Nope you just play until you finally win.  Sorry guys but the glitch that was used in the sauna puzzle would have been better served if it was in the fox and geese game.

Anyway, I’m not playing White Wolf of Icicle Creek……not right now….no I’m not …no….No….No!!!!

Seriously y’all/guys I’m playing Warnings at Waverly, but that’s for another blog.

Dear Diary,
This has been one interesting case. After the train dropped me off, it left without me. I wasn’t worried because I knew Frank and Joe would make sure they came back for me. Anyway, after locating the mine, and wandering through the caves. I found Jake well that is to say I found his skeleton. But I also found something else the real reason Lori wanted to find his mine, and gold had nothing to do with it.

It seems that Jake had this gift for making friends, and I mean making friends. On his skeleton, I found a picture of Camille. That I wasn’t surprised at because it didn’t take a genius to figure out how infatuated he was with her. But it was the piece of paper underneath that was a shock. It was a letter from Abe Lincoln, you know 16th President of the US. That in its self was huge, but then I looked at the date and realized when he wrote it. The very night he was assassinated. Which meant it was probably the last thing Lincoln ever wrote, which meant it was worth a fortune.

Unfortunately Lori, had caught up with me. Let’s just say the whole I’m dumb as a truck load of bricks act that Lori does, is just that an act. Well to make a long story short, Lori caused (purposely I might add) a cave in, trapping me inside. But I managed to get out riding in a Mine car. Now that was fun.

Lori was walking back to the train, when I (in my mine car) came flying up behind her. I tried not to laugh at her sitting their in her designer clothes covered in mud.

After her father found out what she had done, ie trying to kill me, he cut her off completely, well her credit cards. I must say this had been an interesting adventure. Oh I’ve got to go John Gray, Tino, and Charleena are having one major of an argument!

Dear Diary,

Greeting from Copper Gorge Colorado.  I always thought that River Heights was a small town, but nope, not even close.  Cooper Gorge consists of a cafe, a museum/taffy shop, and a grave yard.  The museum/taffy shop is very interesting, or should I say the owner Fatima is interesting.  I would describe her but I have no idea what she looks like.  She wears this old gigantic miner costume, so I never see her face.  I do know this about her is that she’s a big Charleena Purcell fan.  I had to go get Charleena’s autograph (long story there), in order to get to look in an old trunk.

Fatima

Speaking of not being able to see a person face, the same applies to the caretaker at the cemetery.  Cooper Gorge cemetery is where Camille Hurley is buried.  Let’ just say that Jake really loved his wife.  Not quite the Taj Mahal but he loved her just the same.  Anyway the caretaker nearly scared the bejeebies out me when I went to visit her grave.  NEVER EVER sneak up on someone in a graveyard.

copper

Right now I’m ready for lunch (or is it breakfast).  Anyway the owner of the cafe talked Frank Hardy into being a short order cook. So there is no way I’m passing up the opportunity to see this.

Dear Diary,

Well, I found Lori.  The whole disappearance was just an act (not exactly shocking news, is it?) Lori, it turns out wanted to see which of us could find her first.  I wanted to tell her that I was the only one who had been physically looking for her.  But she kept calling me by the  wrong name, so I left it alone.

lorifound

Anyway a  reward, she gave me a letter that Jake Hurley wrote to his niece, before he disappeared.  Jake had apparently gone a little squirrely, and so his niece thought the letter was full of ramblings of a crazy man.  She threw it in the trash, where, amazingly it remained until Lori (or so she says) found it.

So now using the letter as a guide.  I’m off to solve puzzles on this train, and believe me there are a lot.  Bess and George have offered to help in anyway.  I think it’s because George wants an excuse to get out of having to help Bess paint her bedroom.

So here I go with the puzzles.  Think I’ll start with this one.

Dear Diary,

Well the slugs did open the door but didn’t lead me to Lori. Instead I found Jake Hurley’s workshop.  This place is both creepy and comforting at the same time.  Jake Hurley was a man of many talents.  He was also a man of many secrets.  Secrets that he went to great pains to hide, as to why I don’t know.  I am going to find out, but first I must find Lori, and there is one more door to open.  If she’s not in the next car (which is the final one) then I will start really getting concern.

Dear Diary,

Confusion-

Sometimes I don’t understand people.  Our host has disappeared, and while I am not the only one who is “looking” for her, I am the only one who is LOOKING for her.  Joe, Frank and Tino all seem to think she can be located by reading a book.  John Grey is more concerned with locating Camille’s (Jake Hurley’s wife) ghost, and Charleena is only concerned with meeting her deadline.  It has been my past experiences that sitting a reading are great but actions get better results.

hot

Tino, who is full of hot air (I’m really being nice.) gave me a slug that he says is worthless.  But I’m not so sure.  I found another one in Camille’s car.   So now I’m going to find out if they have anything to do with that scale I found.  It’s built into the wall, right next to a door, that is locked.  Here’s to hoping it can be opened.

Dear Diary,

You’ll never believe where I am.  I am on a train with Lori Girard. Just in case you’ve been under a rock or living in a cave for the past few years, Lori is one of those wealthy trust fund prep school kids who are famous for being famous.  There are five more people on the train, six if you count the conductor.   Among those here are Tino Balducci, Charlena Purcell, who I sort of met during a recent “vacation” to Shadow Ranch, and John Grey, host of Ghost Chasers.

lori grey tino hardy charleena

So why is a small town girl from River Heights rubbing elbows with a socialite, an award winning author, a famous detective LOL, and a television celebrity.  Well that has to do with the last two guests on the train… Frank and Joe Hardy.  The short version of the story is that Frank and Joe knew Lori, (how I don’t know), and convinced  her to allow me to come.

Ohh there’s the whistle, we’re supposed to meet in the dinning car for Lori to tell us why were here and where we’re going.  I just hope this is not another publicity stunt.

Quick post from Dove Isle

I sailed to dove island.  This beach would be a great place for a picnic.

doveisle

But I’m not here to have a picnic.  I’m here to find a treasure and therefore find Bess.   Speaking of finding things, I found that I would need to know the date of that a ship sank.sundail

I was about to sail  back to the resort, when I realize that George could find out for me.  I knew where to look.  It was on a coin that I had seen in the shed at the resort.

I “called” George on the walkie talkie and was about to tell her what I wanted, when I saw something  at the resort that didn’t look right.  I told George to go outside and check.  Turns out the monkeys had destroyed the shed, and what was worse they had stolen the coin.   So now here I am waiting for George to go play one of the games to win it back.
